I just have to rave about the amazing mini cupcakes that I had the pleasure of indulging in today. During my lunch break I decided to bring back some gourmet cupcakes for my team. Since we were working in Santa Monica for the day, I figured it was the perfect opportunity to try the much-loved Vanilla Bake Shop on Wilshire Blvd. I rolled through the cute little shop around 3pm on a busy beautiful day; and, to my surprise, there was still a great selection to choose from. With about 8 people on my team, I thought two dozen would be the perfect little treat. Since each day of the week has its own six special flavors (in additional to the six daily regulars), I opted for mostly Sunday’s cupcakes. I chose an assortment of Fleur de Sel, Mint Cookie, Blackberry Passion Fruit, Old Fashioned, Red Velvet, and the St. Patrick’s Day special Chocolate Guinness. The Fleur de Sel (dark chocolate & salted caramel) was by far the best decision ever. I mean melt in your mouth amazing. They were rich and velvety with a light salted caramel essence. Although every flavor was wonderful, my other favorites would have to be the Red Velvet (classic, but done so well) and the Blackberry Passion Fruit (so original and refreshing). If you are passing through town, or live in the LA area, this place is a little slice of heaven worth scoping out. They have locations in Santa Monica and Century City.
